Jane Austen Biography

Jane Austen was a British author born December 16, 1775 and later died on July 18, 1817. Austen was most known for her novel, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. She is noted for having realism and poking fun at the social ways of a very proper English society. Jane Austen educated herself through literature and her father and older brother. She was born in to a close-knit family in rural England and received very little former training. Austen experimented with an abundance of genres of literature in her short twenty years of publication and then retired to an easier lifestyle. During her lifetime Austen received very little proclaim for her works, and very few positive reviews; although after death she received the proclaim she deserved. It was not until her nephew published A memoir of Jane Austen in 1869 that her praise began to poor in. Austen lived a pretty privileged life and did a lot for the family and surrounding families. She never moved out of her parents’ house but instead assisted them in taking care of families, children, and supervising the maids. She attended many socials and continued to write throughout her lifetime. Like many authors Jane Austen did not receive praise until after her death and can now be called one of the greatest authors since the 1800s.
