Jane Austen’s career during her lifetime was somewhat drab, but after death she took on a whole new level of fame. Her novels include Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, and Emma. She wrote other essays, and short stories throughout her time but was not seriously devoted to writing stories. She reached fame when her nephew wrote a novel about her life, and then later she became a staple in American and British literature. Jane Austen’s work has reached fame by many different countries, and she has had her work published in an abundance of languages. Although her novels have not won any major awards it has hit the tops of many famous lists, including the Top 101 Books Ever Written, and has won the award of “UK’s Best-Loved Book” by BBC. Many of Austen’s books have been adapted to film and the movies have won an abundance of awards, and nominations that are practically awards for the author. The sad truth is in the 1800s there were no to very few literary awards and also Austen was not famous during her lifetime.
